New York, NY (Top40 Charts) In celebration of the Creation Records spirit, Creation
Dream Machine will be holding the latest in its LA-based event series, following the hugely successful official RIDE After Party a few weeks ago. The November 22 gathering is the first time this event will be held at The Hi Hat. Performers include new wave-postpunk inspired duo Magic Wands, synthwave duo LUCKYANDLOVE and electronic pop outfit JUGGS.
Influenced by British and European new wave, post punk and 80's pop, Magic Wands are Dexy and Chris Valentine, who formed the band in 2011 between LA and Nashville. With four albums under their belt, their music has been remixed by The XX and
Crystal Fighters and licensed to over 50 national TV shows and commercials, including Victoria's Secret, T-mobile, Vampire Diaries, Paris Fashion Week, Vogue, Gucci, Zara and many more. They have supported many notable acts, including The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Horrors, The
Black Keys, The Raconteurs, The Breeders,The
Wombats and The Kills. They recently released their 'Aloha Moon 19' album and 'Cyan Blue' single.
LUCKYANDLOVE represent a blend of new wave, synthpop and ethereal indietronica. This duo of April Love and Loren Luck recently released their new 'Transitions' album to accolades from publications across the planet. They recently wrapped up back to back UK and West coast tours, sharing the stage with the likes of B-Movie, ACTORS and Empathy Test.
JUGGS is an LA-based feel-good duo comprised of
Brandon Rauch and Willem Wolfe, who happens to be Billy Idol's son. Their funky, electronic, poppy music shares a punk ethos in their attitude and the way they make music. JUGGS was the first American band signed to Alan McGee's new label Creation23 Records'.
"We've long admired the artistry and DIY ethic of the Creation bands and label, and we are proud and honored to be asked to headline the first Creation
Dream Machine event to be held at The Hi Hat," says Chris
Valentine of Magic Wands.
DJ sets will also be offered by music selector DJ Rose Knows (Lethal Amounts) and Kav Blaggers (a.k.a. KAV) . As a DJ, he as toured with
New Order and
James Brown. As a solo artist, he's performed at the London Olympics, SXSW, CMJ and many festivals and shows on both sides of the Atlantic, including with Kasabian. He was also a member of Happy Mondays, now under Creation Management and, more recently, founded Blitz Vega with Andy Rourke (The Smiths).
Indietronic duo L.A.Drones! appear for a special guest DJ set. One of the most buzzed about LA bands in recent years, they just released their new LP 'I Can't Stop To Dance This Shit!' via
Cleopatra Records. Known for their raunchy, risqué and raucous performances, L.A. Drones! (Spanish for 'thieves') create some of the punkiest and catchiest dance music out there. They've shared the stage with Psychic TV, Jah Wobble, Lydia Lunch, OS Mutantes, JD Samson (Le Tigre) and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, among others.
Creation
Dream Machine is an event series born from the long-term relationship between
Texas Bob Juarez (Television Personalities, Rose McDowall) and Alan McGee, founder of the legendary Creation Records and its new incarnation Creation23 Records. They forged the daydream together with McGee ultimately endorsing such Creation events.
Since his time as a member of UK post-punk band Television Personalities - another Creation Records band - Juarez has collaborated with McGee on other Creation events, such as Creation Sessions in Liverpool and Edinburgh, the Creation Tabernacle Venue in Wales, McGee's national UK charity events like Musicians against Homelessness, and the more recent Creation23 Showcases at the Social London.
Creation
Dream Machine represents an extension of the bountiful activity initiated by Alan McGee. Famed for his groundbreaking Creation Records, who brought us the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Swervedriver, Teenage
Fanclub and Slowdive, McGee recently launched a new label - Creation23 Records. The zeitgeist and DIY ethos still remains in McGee's work, his undertakings very much significantly impacting on the music scene today.
With all the buzz leading up to
Danny Boyle and Irvine Welsh's forthcoming film, centered on McGee's life and Creation Records, Los Angeles is the latest locale with interest in spreading Creation's good news. This event is the second-last Creation
Dream Machine events to occur before the end of 2019 with more to come in 2020.
The Hi Hat is located at 5043 York Blvd, Los Angeles, 90042. The event will take place on November 22 from 8pm to 2am Pacific time. Cover charge is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Please note, this is a 21+ event.
