New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Following over 1 million album sales of his No. 1 album Si worldwide, Golden Globe-winning operatic tenor
Andrea Bocelli is back with an extended special edition, out today on Decca/Sugar/Universal Music, with brand new tracks recorded with some of the best and most exciting names in pop, plus a few of Andrea's famous friends!
The first of these newly-recorded duets was released on 4 October, and features BRIT Award-winning, Grammy-nominated British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding. Speaking about their collaboration on the powerfully emotional track, "Return to Love",
Andrea said, "Ellie Goulding is the perfect singer for this track. She has a beautiful voice which I loved right away."
Ellie was similarly delighted to be approached to record with Andrea: "It was a huge honour that the legendary
Andrea Bocelli wanted me to feature on this song with him. I have always had an affinity with classical music and I'm a sucker for a love song. It was fun and enlightening to sing in Italian - a real joy to record."
Another exciting addition is a new track with Andrea's good friend, Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner, who sings on, "Dormi Dormi Lullaby". Inspired by the
Chorale "Jesus bleibet meine Freude" from J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 147 and sung in Italian and English, the gentle undulations and harmonies allow for a broader interpretation of the sacred work. This is the first ever musical release from the Golden
Globe Award-winning actress known for her roles in 13 Going on 30, Alias and Daredevil.
These two new duets add to the star-studded line-up on the original album: Ed Sheeran,
Dua Lipa and
Josh Groban feature along with Andrea's son
Matteo Bocelli, whose emotional duet "Fall on Me" became a viral hit, with the accompanying music video clocking up 20 million views in just four weeks.
Also included are three brand new solo tracks from Andrea. The first, "Alla Gioia", has been recorded to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth, celebrated around the world throughout 2020. A new recording of "Ragazzo Mio", based on the traditional Irish tune "Danny Boy", precedes "Il Mare Calmo Della Sera", a special 25th anniversary track written by
Zucchero Fornaciari, Giampiero Felisatti and
Gloria Nuti specially for Andrea. Beginning with his triumph at the famous Sanremo Festival in 1994, the winning track was subsequently released as Andrea's debut studio single and, later, his debut album.
Andrea Bocelli was born with a gift for music and has gone on to become one of the most renowned and highly-regarded singers in the world - performing at major international events including the Olympic Games and the World Cup, as well as his own sell-out arena shows. He has a Golden Globe, 7 Classical BRITs and 7 World
Music Awards under his belt, plus a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Drawing millions in with his breath-taking voice, Bocelli has collaborated with a host of A-list pop stars including
Ariana Grande,
Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Lopez, LeAnn Rimes,
Christina Aguilera, Céline Dion, Tony Bennett, and many more.
