New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rhiannon Giddens and Yola were among the artists to be featured on the Austin City Limits special of performance highlights from the Americana Music Association's Americana Honors & Awards, held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in September. Giddens was joined by Francesco Turrisi for a haunting performance of "Wayfaring Stranger," from their album there is no Other, and performed with her bandmates in Our Native Daughters as well. She also took home the inaugural Legacy of Americana Award. Yola sang "Faraway Look" from her Dan Auerbach-produced debut album, Walk Through Fire. The special aired on PBS stations across the US over the weekend and can now be seen below.
Yola was nominated for four Grammy Awards this week: Best New Artist, Best Americana Album for Walk Through Fire, Best American Roots Performance for "Faraway Look," and Best American Roots Song for the song, along with fellow songwriters Auerbach and Pat McLaughlin. Auerbach was also nominated for the Grammy for Producer of the Year for his work on Walk Through Fire and more. Rhiannon Giddens has been nominated for Best American Roots Performance for "I'm on My Way," from there is no Other.
