The Golden Globe Awards 2020 On NBC
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The 77th annual installment of the Golden Globes will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020, and hosted by Ricky Gervais. The awards will air live on NBC at 8 pm Eastern / 5 pm Pacific.

The 77th Golden Globe Awards are decided upon by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which is made up of 90 journalists from around the world. None of the HFPA members are Academy voters, so there is no overlap between the voting bodies of the Golden Globes and the Oscars. However, the Globes play an important role each awards season in boosting the visibility of Oscar contenders. Last year's Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy was "Green Book," the eventual Oscar winner for Best Picture. The four acting Oscar winners Rami Malek, Olivia Colman, Mahershala Ali, and Regina King all won Globes first.

The 2020 Golden Globes will be hosted by Ricky Gervais. The awards ceremony takes place January 5, 2020. The categories for the 2020 Golden Globes are listed below.
