New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Liz Kennedy, a romantic at heart, releases her 4th single from her critically acclaimed 2017 album "Hike Up Your Socks" (Featuring legendary bluesman Taj Mahal). The song, produced by Joel Jaffe, features Kennedy on piano alongside several top bay area musicians including Eamonn Flynn and Frank Martin on keyboards, Joel Jaffe on acoustic guitar, Billy Johnson on drums, Marc Levine on bass, Dale Chung on congas, Celso Alberti on percussion, Bill Ortiz on trumpet and flugelhorn, and backing vocals from Omega Rae and Jeanie Tracy.

The track was a fictional nod to her husband Michael who passed away during the recording of the album. From Kennedy's album liner notes... "I liked the idea of speaking to romance as though romance were a person. A friend you can't depend on, a friend always welcomed back. When I wrote this I wasn't sure how it would go for the players in this story. However, I figured out later that I'm probably the woman and the man Michael. Important things happen in restaurants. A romantic dinner can bring such hope to an evening, to a life. We met at dinner on a blind date with some mutual friends and we didn't pay any attention to them. Can't remember what we ordered but if they served lamb chops he'd have had them. I don't really like prawns. We fell in love. That night, over dinner."

After graduating from Stanford University, where she studied anthropology, journalism, and communications, Kennedy settled in the Bay Area, where she worked for film companies that made TV commercials for many years. Long before reality TV became a mainstream part of our culture, Kennedy specialized in casting real people (instead of professional actors) for commercials. She was also married and raised two children. In her later 40s, around the time she began realizing she had "songs in my head" that had never been recorded, she met Jaffe, who liked what he heard and encouraged her to take her work as a singer/songwriter more seriously. In addition to her growing catalog of recordings, she has performed over the years at renowned Bay Area hotspots including the Razz Room, Sweetwater, Throckmorton, Angelicas, and Club Fox.
