New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesza kicks off 2020 with the release of new single "When Boys Cry". The effervescent new track, released through her own label ZebraSpirit Tribe, sees the electro-pop juggernaut tackling toxic masculinity and its effect on how men express themselves. The latest in a string of comeback singles following a two-year hiatus, "When Boys Cry" is the first taste of what's to come for Kiesza in the new decade.
The "larger-than-life" (PAPER) creative's first single of 2020 is ironically her most minimalistic yet. The empowering track, produced alongside longtime collaborator Chris Malinchak, bolsters its strong message between minimal beats, the whisper of a snare, and quick-flitting snaps as Kiesza sing-speaks about boys who let their "teardrops turn to rust."
Penning the track about the vulnerability of men in her life, Kiezsa says on the song: "Throughout history, men have had less permission to be vulnerable about their feelings. I want to empower men to tap into the "feminine" energy they have within and allow themselves to be emotional without judgement. I wrote the melody and lyrics of "When Boys Cry" with the intention of encouraging men to feel confident sharing this side of themselves with the world, and encourage people to celebrate it when they do."
Re-emerging as an independent musician and staking her claim in the electro-pop scene, Kiesza ended 2019 by releasing two new singles, "Sweet Love" and "You're The Best" via her label ZebraSpirit Tribe. With more new music on the way, 2020 is set to be a big year for the "eccentric" (Billboard) singer-songwriter who took the last decade by storm.

ABOUT KIESZA Kiesza stormed onto the scene in 2014 with her impassioned hit "Hideaway", which has since accrued over a billion streams; the accompanying one-shot video has been featured on several best-of-decade lists. Her debut studio album Sound Of A Woman saw her top charts globally and moved over a million units. Top-tier musicians soon rushed to work with her, and the rising Canadian talent soon counted herself as a feature on releases from the likes of Skrillex, Diplo, Duran Duran and Joey Bada$$, to name a few. The Canadian multi-hyphenate also has a foot in the fashion world, serving as the face of campaigns for top brands like Fendi and Maison Birks. After a life-changing car crash put her on a two-year hiatus, Kiesza returned as an independent artist, releasing music through her own label ZebraSpirit Tribe. The new decade marks a promising new beginning for one of the last decade's biggest breakouts—and this time, she's doing it her way.
