SYDNEY, Australia (Sony BMG Australia) - Oz's utter obsession with the FOO FIGHTERS is set to explode next week when the band touch down for a three-day blitz to launch their killer new album, 'In Your Honor'. As well as their FREE Channel [V] gig, catch 'em on Rove [Live], Denton & more.
As part of a seven territory whirlwind trip, an incredibly fired up Dave Grohl, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel & Taylor Hawkins will touch down in Sydney & Melbourne next week for a three-day visit to ensure their diehard Aussie fans are some of the first in the world to preview the new
Foo Fighters double album, 'IN YOUR HONOR'.
One of the world's most kick-ass live acts, Foo Fighters are ready to give Aussie fans a taste of what to expect when they tour here in support of 'In Your Honor' later this year (yup, read it'n'weep tears of joy...).
The Foo's penchant for volume and all its splendour will be first witnessed at a massive Channel [V] Live at VHQ event on Monday, May 30 in Sydney, where the band are set to blow their record for drawing the biggest ever crowd at a VHQ Fox Studios event (nailed in 2002) right out of the stratosphere.
Other highlights of their time in Oz to mark in your diaries NOW include Andrew Denton getting Dave Grohl into the hotseat for ABC's Enough Rope on Monday, May 30 (ABC, 9.30pm) and the band's performance of the album's first single 'BEST OF YOU' on Rove [Live], Tuesday May 31 (Channel Ten, 9.30pm).
The band's fifth studio LP (and a double slab at that), 'In Your Honor' is already being touted as one of the biggest rock releases of the year. The first disc is one helluva rock beast and offers some of the heaviest tracks the band has ever written, and the second an acoustic disc which features some of the quietest, gentlest tunes ever to bear the Foo stamp of approval. One loud, one not so loud. Just as we like it.
With collaborations from Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, Queens of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and a bossa nova with Norah Jones which is just going to blow people away, this album is certainly not what anyone would expect.
The Foo's latest blistering rock assault has already been infecting our airwaves, with the lead single 'BEST OF YOU' soaring straight to No 1 Most Added in it's first week at Australian radio (Music Network). The roaring new track, has had a similarly impressive response around the world, and in fact the biggest launch of the year at Modern Rock radio in the US.
