New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today we are joining forces with Magnus for the premiere of their new single "Forever & Never," an aggressively tune that drives along with monotonous chord progressions, caveman-like bass-lines, and droning vocals. Once you take a listen it firmly straps you in the passenger seat and you have no choice but to go along for the ride.
About the song, Magnus comments "Forever & Never" started out as a quite different track which ended up on the album as "Ever & Ever". That one being a swaying riff in an odd time signature which then moves into an unusual chord progression which conjures up a little Pink Floyd in me. I had those two bits for ages and didn't know what to do with them. I'd play them over and over and over and get annoyed by it. I thought I was trying to be too smart & intellectual about it. I wanted something that would go against that, something that would just aggressively drive along, something that makes you feel you're stuck in the passenger seat and have no choice but to go along for the ride. Enter caveman bass-line. The guitar riffs that follow are still very close to "Ever & Ever", they feel like they're part of the same family but more boisterous and less drunk then their older siblings.
At the end it comes back around with a guitar solo over the same chord progression of the second half of "Ever & Ever". You thought you escaped, but you're stuck in the same loop.
