NEW YORK (KOCH Records) - Diplomat Records & KOCH Records in association with Duke "Da God," long-time VP of A&R for Diplomat Records, have joined forces for the release of a killer new album, "Dipset: More Than Music." The new album is set to feature all Dips principals including
Cam'ron (Diplomats CEO), Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, JR Writer, Hell Rell, 40.Cal, and newcomer Jha' Jha' (the Dips first female MC).
One thing is certain - this Harlem-bred crew does much more than just make music. Already being heralded as a modern-day Wu-Tang Clan, in recent years, Dip Set has become synonymous with street culture, leading the trends in rap music, hip-hop slang and even urban fashion. Their influence has increasingly grown into a movement with Cam'ron and Jim Jones leading the charge.
General Manager and Executive Vice President of KOCH Records Alan Grunblatt says, "We've had great success with Diplomat Records. Coming later this year, we'll have a new album in August from Jim Jones with 'Harlem - Diary Of A Summer' and later this year we'll be releasing debuts from JR Writer and then Hell Rell. We expect to do very, very well with this new 'More Than Music' album. We very much look forward to a continued great relationship with our friends Cam'ron and Jimmy Jones along with the rest of their crew."
About "More Than Music," Duke "Da God" offers, "The artists worked together much more on this album than they ever have." Whereas, the first Diplomats album "Diplomatic Immunity" and then "Diplomatic Immunity 2" introduced the crew to the masses; "More Than Music" is a concept-style album that will present them as a unified group.
Recognizing their hustle, KOCH Records worked out a deal with Duke "Da God" that resulted in this groundbreaking album. The crew has been diligently at work with plans to heat up the summer with this latest project, under the direction of one of their own. Duke explains, "They see how we grind, how we move thousands and thousands of tapes on the streets. We moved so many mixtapes, so why not capitalize off of it and put it in the stores. I'm the A&R of the Diplomats, but I was always the silent dude. Still, I put in a lot of work. So now it's time for me to show people what I do."
"More Than Music" also finds Dipset venturing outside their immediate camp for some star-studded collabos. Fabolous makes a guest appearance alongside Juelz Santana on "So What's It Gonna Be."
The first pair of singles from "More than Music" will be "Get Down" feat. Cam'ron & Juelz Santana and "The Best Out" feat. Hell Rell, J.R. Writer, 40.Cal and Bezzel.
A video for both songs is now in pre-production and will be directed by Scott Franklin (who lensed Juelz Santana's new anthem "Mic Check" - currently charting on the MTV2's Hip-Hop Countdown).
