Brasstracks' "Missed Your Call (Ft. Col3trane)" - Out Now Via EQT/Capitol Records
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Brasstracks follows the uplifting "Change For Me (ft. Samm Henshaw)" - and its music video love letter to their hometown NYC - with the song's comedown B-side: "Missed Your Call (ft. Col3trane) via EQT/ Capitol Records.
As the GRAMMY-winning duo (multi-instrumentalist Ivan Jackson and percussionist Conor Rayne) prep their forthcoming LP, they pay tribute to the era of A-B cassettes by releasing new music in pairs. Both songs feel like the flip sides of a coin. While "Change For Me" has big-band maximalism that's meant to uplift any party, "Missed Your Call" is like the quiet morning after. The brass is still there, yet "Missed Your Call," with its sunrise acoustic picking and Col3trane's "breakfast in bed alone" croon, shines a more mellow light on the duo that's collaborated with Mark Ronson, Chance The Rapper, Harry Styles, Anderson .Paak, and more.

Here's what Jackson says about what makes "Missed Your Call" a different sort of Brasstracks song:
"Col3trane came into the studio and we immediately bonded over our love of D'Angelo's 'Spanish Joint,' so it already felt like we weren't going to create a stereotypical Brasstracks song that day. I picked up an acoustic guitar, Conor started messing with mixing both live drums and various drum machines in the studio, and Col3trane immediately started vibing and writing. We made kind of a left turn for the pre-chorus, and I raised my concerns about it maybe being too much. He immediately said 'no, I'm into it' and proceeded to write one of the coolest moments in the song, you could tell that he had it all planned in his head, notes lyrics adlibs and all."

CLASH called "Change For Me" "a summer-fresh ear-worm" and praised the duo's attention to detail in their singular songwriting: "The melody is superb, but the intricate arrangement pushes it to the next level." And last week, in its weekly roundup of the top new releases, AV Club featured "Change For Me" alongside new music by Perfume Genius, Moses Sumney, The Magnetic Fields and more: "'Change For Me' is a few great things at once: A sneaky earworm, a sunny groove, and a harmonious reminder that there are always reasons to try."

Brasstracks will continue releasing A-B tracks featuring an amazing cast of musicians and collaborators throughout 2020 leading up to its release, stay tuned.
