LONDON, UK (Value Added Talent/ www.vathq.co.uk) - DJ LUKE SLATER is having a great year in 2005, following the release this January of his mix CD 'Fear and Loathing part II'.
Regarded by most as a 'traditional techno' DJ, on this album he demonstrates his diversity.
The mix on CD1 weaves from ambient soundscapes from Planetary Assault Systems and Bola, pulling together Nathan Fake, Isole'e, Carl Craig's remix of Throbbing Gristle. CD2 is more of what you would expect from Luke Slater - a dance floor based mix taking in all that's hot in the world of electro and techno, including tracks from The Advent, Nitzer Ebb, and Alter Ego.
In his own words:
"What I wanted to do with Fear and Loathing 2 was to firstly pick tracks I liked, despite what pigeonhole they were in. The first CD, the more purposely tripped out CD, is just that, a journey. I wanted to create a mix especially for after club listening. The second CD reflects some of the diverse tracks I play in a set. The purpose of a mix CD, and any album, surely is to create a journey, Without that, I would find the concept boring. Fear and Loathing 2 is a representation of the diversity of the word "Techno."
Next year, Luke will be concentrating on playing live dates with the release of a new studio album, so 2005 is a great time to book him.
