LOS ANGELES (Paramount Pictures) - On Monday, June 27th, 2005,
Tom Cruise will host a screening of "War of the Worlds" for hundreds of fans and special guests. The screening is the culmination of a series of premieres beginning last Monday in Tokyo and continuing in Berlin, Marseilles, London, Madrid, and New York. The Los Angeles screening, which was Cruise's idea, is specifically for fans. This event marks the first time that Cruise has hosted a screening for fans.
Rob Friedman, Vice Chairman of the Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Group, said, "As soon as it was mentioned, we knew this screening was something we wanted to do. The fans and this movie mean so much to Tom that, even after six premieres in two weeks around the world, he knew he had to do something special for them. We couldn't wait to get on board."
Cruise added, "I'm thrilled to be hosting this screening for the fans. I've received so much support from them over the years and it feels great to have the opportunity to share the movie with them personally."
No tickets will be sold for the event. Hundreds of military guests and webmasters of fan sites, who have supported the film from the very beginning, have already been invited; in addition, fans can win tickets to the event by listening to the radio.

Directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Josh Friedman and David Koepp, based on the novel by H. G. Wells, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. The executive producer is Paula Wagner. The film also stars Dakota Fanning, Miranda Otto, Justin Chatwin and Tim Robbins. This film has been rated PG-13 for Frightening Sequences of Sci-Fi Violence and Disturbing Images.
