New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Brett James, the GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter behind some of music's biggest hits, unfolds another personal chapter of his life with the announcement of his self-penned 'Tell The People' EP, due Sept. 4 via Songs of Brett/Label Logic/Ingrooves.
'Tell The People' features James' Nashville-soul sound from top to bottom, leading with a poignant cry for compassion in the timely title track. The gritty ballad "Like You Found Me" tells how love transforms us, while "Right on Time" reminds us that love will come in the moments when we need it most. The Memphis-style blues track "Just Tell Me" features bold horns accompanied by percussion, while "Southern Soul" echoes the southern rock sound of the 70s, and the gentle closer "Petty Fool" shows how we as humans are persistent in pursuit of love no matter how many times it's burned us.
"This EP takes me back to what I love most about music -- just writing songs for the love of it and singing what I want to say with honesty and no BS," says James. "If even a few people connect with these songs the way that I do, it will have been a huge success for me."
James recently joined Country
Music Hall of Fame for a virtual Songwriter Session to perform some of his biggest hits and new material. He discussed what he's learned from the successes and failures in chasing his dream of becoming a songwriter, performed songs from 'Tell The People' and even his Billboard Hot Country Songs No. 1 "
The Truth" recorded by Jason Aldean. Through the ups and downs,
James has achieved 25 No. 1 songs, GRAMMY, CMA Triple-Play, BMI and ASCAP Awards, as well as more than 500+ songs recorded by artists like Aldean, Carrie Underwood,
Martina McBride and others.
