With 2020 continuing to be a mind-numbing experience for us all, Bright Light Bright Light (the performance alias of NYC-based international pop star Rod Thomas) has decided to not only release his forthcoming album 'Fun City' on
September 18th, but to also usher in listeners with a virtual celebratory pop music bonanza on release day where he will perform the new album in-full at Manhattan's queer hot spot Club Cumming (featuring a cameo by venue founder Alan Cumming himself).
Using the magic of the internet and channeling decades of queer history and community, Rod will video in guest appearances from many of the artists who contributed their talents to 'Fun City', including Sam Sparro, Niki
Haris & Donna De Lory, Caveboy, Brendan MacLean, Kaye, The Illustrious Blacks and Big Dipper. The live-streaming event will also include a variety of other all-star cameos including appearances by RuPaul's Drag Race stars Jujubee (US) and Crystal (UK), Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters, Pennsylvania state representative Brian Sims, YouTube star Andrew J Duffer, singer Mykal Kilgore, H from multiplatinum pop group Steps, Jawbreaker filmmaker Darren Stein, and many more.
The event will also raise money for the Ali Forney Center who combats LGBTQ+ homelessness in NYC, and the Club Cumming's Community Chest.

Bright Light Bright Light is no stranger to a nightlife party (virtual or otherwise), having hosted countless mid-afternoon dance parties in NYC at locations such as Club Cumming and C'mon Everybody. Affectionately titled his "Romy And Michele's Saturday Afternoon Tea Party", the events have now been brought to the internet amidst COVID, with Rod curating and DJing at-home sets via Twitch.
The songs that have been released thus far off 'Fun City' fully capture the sonic essence and thematic spirit of the record: "This Was My House", a prideful ode to queer safe spaces that Rolling Stone said features a "buoyant beat to dance through pain and trouble," the follow-up and smitten collaboration with Jake Shears, "Sensation" which Queerty said "channels 80s dance-pop as well as classic queer disco tunes by the likes of Sylvester," "I Used To Be Cool", his irresistibly cheeky ode to cherishing your "15 minutes in the sun" which LOGO debuted on Instagram, and "
It's Alright, It's Ok" (feat Caveboy) which tackled misgendering, deadnaming and other identity abuse faced by the LGBTQ+ community and features a glorious video starring Gender Fluid performer Glow Job.
Bright Light Bright Light has been a staple of the international LGBTQ+ music scene for over ten years, having released three prior albums and touring as both a solo artist and as support alongside pop royalty like Elton John, Cher, Erasure,
Ellie Goulding and Scissor Sisters. He also collaborated with Elton on his 2016 banger "All In The Name" which he also performed with the music legend on The Graham Norton Show.
