New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Prosthetic Records is thrilled to announce the signing of London, UK three-piece, PUPIL SLICER. The trio combine all the sharp edges of angular mathcore with the bone crushing intensity of grindcore. Today they have released a new track, L'appel du Vide, which features guest vocals from Carson Pace of The Callous Daoboys; a video for the track by Art of the Glitch (Zola Jesus, Five Seconds of Summer) is premiering via Brooklyn Vegan.
Of the video/track, PUPIL SLICER guitarist/vocalist, Kate Davies, commented:
"L'Appel Du Vide is about the call of the void and the anxiety that results from having to deal those upsetting, intrusive thoughts. This track marks the start of a new chapter for us musically, finally at a point in technical and songwriting ability where I feel we can convey how I wanted this project to sound since inception. The song features guest vocals from Carson Pace of The Callous Daoboys, a friend that I met during the final Dillinger Escape Plan shows in New York a couple years ago. We immediately hit it off over a shared enthusiasm for all things mathcore. They had promised at the time to lend vocals to one of our tracks when we were ready and now we're finally at that stage, I'm happy to say that Carson absolutely killed it."
Having spent two years honing their craft and refining their sound, PUPIL SLICER set out to record new music in 2019 with Pedram Valiani of Frontierer/Sectioned - L'appel du Vide is the first work to emerge from those sessions. The frenetic energy of the track - and resting sense of teetering on the edge - encapsulates the titular phenomenon - the call of the void. With Carson's vocals providing an additional dynamic and an extra layer of discordant chaos, combined with the glitched visual accompaniment, PUPIL SLICER are here to see 2020 out with a bang.
On signing to Prosthetic, Kate said:
"The opportunity to sign with Prosthetic Records is a fantastic one and the decision a real no-brainer. It is an honour to be on a roster beside so many great bands we all adore, especially meth., .gif from god and wristmeetrazor who have been big influences on us. We're really looking forward to being able to push ourselves with the extra backing and expand our musical boundaries further."
Prosthetic Records' Becky Laverty added:
"PUPIL SLICER caught our attention and we knew immediately that they were a band we wanted to work with. We're all excited to introduce you to them with this track, and are thrilled to say that there's much more to come from them in the next few months."
News regarding future releases will follow in due course.
