NEW YORK (Virgin Records) - Sparked by enthusiastic radio and video support of its lead single, Jermaine Dupri's "Gotta Getcha," the So So Def/Virgin collection "Jermaine Dupri Presents...Young, Fly & Flashy, Vol.1" is released on July 19, 2005.
"Gotta Getcha," which entered the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Chart six weeks ago and the Billboard national Hot 100 last week, is also drawing major video play on BET and MTV2, among other national and regional video outlets, thanks to a Bryan Barber-directed clip featuring surprise guest appearances by superstars Nelly and Janet Jackson.

Jermaine DupriAnother fact underscoring the significance of the first So So Def/Virgin release is that "...Young Fly and Flashy" is the first content-protected disc that EMI Music is releasing in the U.S. from across its family of labels.

Virgin Records Urban Music President Jermaine Dupri commented: "Having a content-protected release is a must in today's music world. I did this once with Anthony Hamilton on his So So Def debut, 'Comin' From Where I'm From,' because I feel that the artist is entitled to the benefit of every kind of protection that labels can provide, whether in the physical or digital domain. I'm glad to be the first content-protected release from EMI Music in the U.S. - it says and means a lot that this album is on the leading edge within our overall mix of releases."

EMI Music is currently testing new and upgraded content protection technologies on a global basis to help manage the issue of unauthorized copying and distribution of copyrighted music while still giving consumers the ability to copy and port their music. Consumers who purchase "Jermaine Dupri Presents...Young, Fly & Flashy, Vol.1" will be able to make copies of the disc; use individual tracks for playlists; burn compilations; and transfer music to Windows Media compatible portable devices.

Dupri, who dominated the sound of hip-hop and R&B through 2004 and 2005 as an independent producer and label helm through his work on a stream of market-leading albums by Usher, Mariah Carey, Anthony Hamilton and others, conceived the collection as a means to present both established and emerging talents from all over the South.

Aside from Dupri's lead single, T. Waters' "Throw'd Off" and Young Capone featuring Daz and T-Rock's "I'm Hot" have also been rocking on radio mixshows and underground tapes prior to album release. Other guests on the collection include Da Brat, Bow Wow, J-Kwon, Bun B., Pastor Troy and Dem Franchise Boyz.

The major promotional campaign behind "Jermaine Dupri Presents...Young, Fly & Flashy, Vol.1" includes national media buys on BET and MTV2, and a national promo tour leading up to a star-studded Atlanta release party.

Television and cable coverage of the collection includes appearances on BET's "Access Granted," "Rap City" and "108th and Park"; and MTV's "Direct Efx" (in a live Las Vegas performance), "MTV Overdrive" and a July 24 all-day hosting spot on MTV2's "Sucker-Free Sunday." Dupri is scheduled for performances on "Regis and Kelly" and "The Late Show With David Letterman," and "Access Hollywood" and "Extra!" segments are also in preparation. Other live performances include a Sony Flash Fusion concert at a secret Atlanta location.
On-line promotion includes a BET.com "Be Jermaine Dupri For a Day" contest, with two weeks of coordinated on-line/on-air promo ending in an on-air reveal and additional follow-up coverage.
