New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The East Nashville-based singer/songwriter Matt Urmy shares the optimistic new single "Family" from his forthcoming album 'South of the Sky' - out January 15, 2021. "Family" examines the importance of personal relationships, and how friends family and acts of intention take precedence over all else, and can help defy feelings of hopelessness in even the darkest of times. "The world's going to give exactly what you pour," he sings of the practice of intention. The song features the soulful addition of prolific Nashville vocalist Jonell Mosser who has sung background vocals for B.B. King, Etta James, Waylon Jennings, Patty Smythe and more.

Urmy's upcoming concept album 'South of the Sky' attempts to explore and celebrate the multi- dimensionality of human life. Each song is filled with subtle references to the other tracks on the album, and each song on Side A has a mirror image, or sibling song on Side B. "Family" is perhaps the album's most optimistic song as Urmy meditates on the album's lowest point. While Side A single "Helpless Fool" is a moment of self-introspection, "Family" examines the surface and how one's relationships and actions can inspire and ignite change.

Earlier album singles "Raging Hearts" and "Blind" landed on NPR Music's New Music Friday playlists. Urmy also recently released a powerful spoken word performance of the latter for WSMV's TODAY In Nashville.
