SYDNEY, Australia (SONY BMG Australia) - Southern rockers My Morning Jacket will appear in new Cameron Crowe film 'Elizabethtown', and have a brand new album due out this year. With new band members on board, MMJ's 4th album will have a broader sound than 2003's gorgeous 'It Still Moves'.
With the abundance of hair that accompanies a My Morning Jacket performance, it's easy to see why Cameron Crowe chose the southern tinged indie alt-rockers for his film. Set in MMJ's home state of Kentucky, 'Elizabethtown' features the group as a local band who play a cover of Lynryd Skynyrd's classic 'Freebird'.

Back in 2003, Jim James, the man with the glorious voice fronting MMJ, told Billboard.com that he thought Cameron Crowe was an amazing guy. "He's truly awesome, but anybody knows that from seeing his movies," Jim told Billboard.

Responsible for the classic music flicks 'Singles' and 'Almost Famous' Cameron Crowe's newie also stars Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst, and tells the story of a struggling industrial designer whose life changes when he heads home to Kentucky for his dad's funeral.

Also promising to be turn heads is the new My Morning Jacket album, 'Z', due for release towards the end of the year. Produced by John Leckie (Radiohead, New Order), the album will be a bit of a shift from the band's 3rd album, 'It Still Moves'.

Featuring new band members - Carl Broemel on guitar and Bo Koster on keys - the sound on 'Z' will be somewhat fuller, with more keyboard to fill in some of the space. With 10 songs, the highly-anticipated 'Z' will again showcase Jim Jones' spine-chilling vocals and the band's awe-inspiring ability.
