Ben Schuller Digs At Gen-Z Materialism In New Single And Video "Blueberry Diamonds" From Forthcoming Solo Album 'New Roaring 20s'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Ben Schuller - the Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer who is also a member of the viral YouTube musical group NerdOut! - releases his new song and video "Blueberry Diamonds," out today. The visuals depict Schuller grasping for intimacy during a romantic evening - and yet something feels intangibly awry. Watch the official video for "Blueberry Diamonds" here.

"Blueberry Diamonds" comes from Schuller's forthcoming album 'New Roaring 20s,' out later this spring. The song sees the album's central character "consumed by the materialistic and hollow identity that he's created," says Schuller. "It's the first song on the album that sings about another person, a girl that he's unable to love because he doesn't love himself."

'New Roaring 20s' is a concept album that investigates "the unique and often tragic social identity of our generation, while at the same time giving a deeply personal account of my own mental health struggles as an artist in the age of the Internet," says Schuller.

Ahead of 'New Roaring 20s,' Schuller has released a series of singles, or "chapters" from the album. "Blueberry Diamonds" is the 7th chapter of 'New Roaring 20s,' with previous chapters "Validation," "Cruising Altitude," "Engagement Party," "Be Somebody Else," "Pact Ink," and "Not Enough" earning early praise from Substream, CelebMix, and Hollywood Life, who called the project "[an] introspective [look] at what it's like to be raised by the internet."

Ben Schuller is best known as one-third of the gaming-themed musical group NerdOut - but he'll be the first to tell you he didn't set out to build a following of 3.2M YouTube subscribers for writing and performing tunes about nerd culture. As a solo artist, Schuller blends lo-fi electronic production with honeyed vocals and probing lyrics about the perils of gen Z.
Stay tuned for more from Ben Schuller.
