NEW YORK (Atlantic Records) - Melisma/Atlantic recording artist
Rob Thomas has announced his first full-scale solo tour of North America. Presented by VH1, the two-month itinerary is slated to kick off on October 5th in Albany, New York. Fans can go online exclusively to VH1.com beginning this Thursday, August 18th for ticket pre-sales, two days before the general on-sale date.
Thomas's debut solo album, "...SOMETHING TO BE," made chart history upon its release in April. The set entered the Billboard 200 album chart at No 1 - the first time that a male artist from a rock or pop group has debuted at No 1 with their first solo album since Billboard introduced the chart 50 years ago.
In addition, "...SOMETHING TO BE" is the first album released exclusively as a DualDisc to hit No 1. Now in its 16th week on the Billboard 200, the RIAA platinum "...SOMETHING TO BE" has thus far yielded a pair of smash singles; the No 1-charting "Lonely No More" and the current single, "This Is How A Heart Breaks" - which are simultaneously ranked in the top ten on the national Hot AC/Adult Top 40 charts this week.
Following a record-breaking ten-week run in the No 1 spot at Hot AC, "Lonely No More" hits No 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart this week. On the international front, "Lonely No More" has hit No 1 in a remarkable 15 countries around the world.
Thomas celebrated the release of "...SOMETHING TO BE" with a sold-out, whirlwind club tour which hit a dozen cities across the U.S. in April, followed by his first-ever European solo concert dates. On July 2nd, Thomas performed in Philadelphia as part of the Live 8 global concert devoted to increasing awareness of Third World poverty.
On September 8th, Rob will take the stage at the 2005 "Fashion Rocks" concert at Radio City Music Hall. The event will be broadcast the following night on CBS-TV. For more information on Rob Thomas and his tour dates, log on to www.atlanticrecords.com.
