New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Young Thug is set to star alongside Shahadi Wright Joseph in Throw It Back. In addition, the artist, who will also serve as an executive producer, will oversee the film's soundtrack. Young Thug recently earned a Billboard #1 record with Slime Language 2, a compilation record released on Young Stoner Life Records, of which he is the CEO.

Recognized worldwide as the godfather of new wave rap, Young Thug has broken convention at every turn and reinvented the sound of popular music. His Grammy Award-winning, platinum selling records have paved the way for generations before him.

Throw It Back will be directed by Shadae Lamar Smith from a script he wrote with Rochée Jeffrey.

Feigco Entertainment's Paul Feig and Laura Fischer, Rochée Jeffrey, and She Ready Productions' Tiffany Haddish and Melanie Clark are producing.

Along with Young Thug, Geoff Ogunlesi has joined Feigco's Lynne Hedvig as executive producer.

Haddish will also play a supporting role in the film.

Logline: Throw It Back follows Wytrell, a high school senior who has never stood out from the crowd. After a controversial superstar Miami rapper decides to feature the renowned dance team from her high school in his latest music video, it throws the school into chaos, and Wytrell battles for a spot on the squad and her final chance to be in the spotlight. The film is a dance-filled musical dramedy set to a soundtrack of southern hip hop and HBCU collegiate band rhythms.

CAA Media Finance is representing the film's domestic distribution rights; Mad River is handling international sales and introduced the project to buyers at the Virtual Cannes Market.

Feigco is the production company founded by Paul Feig, the multi-talented director, filmmaker, writer, producer, and author whose films (Last Christmas, A Simple Favor, Spy, The Heat, Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters) have grossed over one billion dollars worldwide. Created with the goal of creating edgy, commercial TV and film projects starring women (the first and only company of its kind), Feigco is currently in production on The School for Good and Evil for Netflix and Welcome to Flatch for Fox. Other films and TV projects include Leftover Daughters, with Judy Weng for Lionsgate TV and NBC; Minx, the Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson led series for HBO Max; the Netflix romantic comedy Someone Great; Love Life for HBO Max, currently in production of its second season; the critically acclaimed film Holler now available in theaters and VOD and the sci-fi comedy Other Space.
