New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Just weeks after his latest single, "Mulaversary," Jayden Premo has announced the making of a new mixtape set to drop this summer, and just in time for the restoration of some normality since the start of the pandemic. Just last week, the artist teased his supporters with a sneak peek of the tape's tracklist and cover art on his Instagram story, but had not yet announced a release date.
It appears that Premo has a thing for summer tapes seeing that he's just shy of the one year mark since his last project, "Studio Trapademics," that dropped in July of 2020, which generated well over 1.5 million streams.
Toronto's Anomaly comprises 14 songs and appears to have no features from other artists. The tape begins with "Visionary" which was released early March 2021, and ends off with his most recent banger, "Mulaversary," which currently sits at nearly 42,000 views on YouTube. Both songs remain featured on popular playlists such as Northern Bars on Spotify, and The New Toronto on Apple Music. Seeing that both tracks are doing quite well in numbers, there is much anticipation for the rest of the tape, and the possibility of more visuals for his fans' favorite tracks.
Despite a catalog of over 50 songs - some being quite vulnerable, Jayden Premo remains a mystery in the eyes of some, however, his creativity and progression as an artist is very clear. Referring to himself as "Toronto's Anomaly" may have people speculating what that means, and his supporters wondering what they'll learn from the superstar in the making.
There is a possible correlation between the tape's title and a statement from a previous article which had touched on the artist creating a lane for himself, and refusing to adhere to the advice of taking on a more traditional career, or the more controversial path of getting involved with the streets despite growing up in neighborhoods of poor socioeconomic status. With this approach, Jayden Premo understands that he'll need to work much harder to break himself as an artist in the industry.
Jayden Premo has always been one to promote positivity and an entrepreneurial mindset, which is quite contrary to his generation's liking nowadays. These very traits may be the reason his supporters appreciate him - simply put, he's refreshing and authentic. Unbeknownst to many, Jayden Premo is a self-made machine, and will stop at nothing to show his city, and the world, his talents as an independent artist. Known for his musical abilities in song composition and engineering, he is also well-versed in graphic design, and the founder of record label Northern Sound Mogul.
Needless to say, Jayden Premo is underrated, and should not be counted out in conversations around Toronto's emerging hip-hop/rap scene.
As promised by the artist himself, Premo has much more in his arsenal for this year, including the expansion of his record label, and merch in the form of clothing and accessories available for purchase on his official website.
Premo urges his supporters to stay tuned for details via his social media, mainly Instagram and Twitter, as they await the arrival of Toronto's Anomaly set to drop July 23rd.
