Dutch Beat Machine Camille Antoni Re-Emerges For The Release Of His Debut Solo Single "L.U.N.A."
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Netherlands-based producer, mixer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Camille Antoni returns with his latest self-produced, debut hip-hop single, 'L.U.N.A.' featuring vocals from friend, rapper and long-time collaborator Pete Philly.
Best known for his session musician work, unique genre-bending productions and his involvement and founding of the indie-pop duo, Bungalow, Camille Antoni is a seasoned and highly experienced musician who is now ready to re-emerge and re-introduce himself to the world as a must-hear artist and beatmaker, working and creating on his own terms.
Having discovered his love for music at a young age, Camille Antoni has spent the majority of his adult life building upon and sharing his musical knowledge and skills with others. From his time as a student and teacher at the prestigious HKU University of the Arts near his hometown of Amsterdam, to learning analogue production from Jochem van der Saag (Seal, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston) in Los Angeles, and interning at the iconic Mooie Jongens hip-hop studio in the Netherlands, Camille Antoni has lived and breathed music since the age of 12.

Influenced by a vast and varied roster of artists, musicians and producers, no sound, genre or method is left unexplored when Camille creates. From the 'godfather of punk', Iggy Pop and The Sex Pistols to the neo-psychedelic sounds of Tame Impala, as well as the work of artists/producers like Tyler the Creator, Mura Masa, Anderson. Paak and Hudson Mohawke, Camille finds inspiration in artists who create their own universe of sound and texture, whilst always remaining authentic to themselves and their craft.

Determined to do the same, Camille Antoni presents 'L.U.N.A.' as a demonstration of both him and Pete Philly at their most authentic, unadulterated and raw. Created in under 24 hours, the record came about without any real planning or foresight from either artist but rather an organic meeting of the minds.

Driven by a deep frustration with humanity and our seeming inability to be mindful of the planet and each other, Camille took to his home studio to vent, resulting in a disjointed and uneasy hip-hop beat that accurately reflected his creative mood at the time. Dark and alluring yet bouncy and refreshing, 'L.U.N.A.' captures the very essence of Pete Philly and Camille Antoni.

"Within my compositions, I like to play with dissonance. It evokes a feeling that there's a tension within the music that rubs and needs to be resolved. When writing with a singer/rapper I also strive for the lyrical subject of the song to match the feelings and emotions within the composition. My first single L.U.N.A., in collaboration with Pete Philly, is a good example of this. 'Lead Us Not Astray' is a religious quote asking for a greater power to guide us on the right path. At this exact moment in time, we are not only in a climate crisis but also in the aftermath of Covid-19. Financial inequality continues to grow and governments all over the world are each struggling with their own issues. L.U.N.A. is about having the knowledge and bravery to make the difficult but correct choices in order to make things better."

Aside from being his solo debut, setting the tone for the sound and quality expected of Camille's forthcoming works, 'L.U.N.A.' is also an indication of the bar Camille has set for himself, as he credits the track as being the first self-created beat that he's truly happy to share as the introduction to his solo discography.

Born out of a moment of pure creative freedom, set for release on a New Moon and described as a "coming home" moment by Camille, both artistically and metaphorically, 'L.U.N.A.' is the first beautiful phase in a new era of music for Camille Antoni.

Camille Antoni is a prolific producer, writer and beat machine. With a youth spent performing in p-funk bands and listening to Iggy Pop and The Clash, as well as newer experimental bands like Late Of The Pier, CA harnesses a smooth, sweet but crispy sound. His productions feature the abrasive sharp edges associated with punk and combine them with his love of hazy hip-hop akin to Flying Lotus, Anderson. Paak and Tyler, the Creator. Top that off with the edginess of 2010s electro-indie pioneers Jai Paul and Mura Masa you land on a sound that can only be his.

Like many musicians, Camille Antoni found his calling in his early childhood. Not long after picking up the acoustic guitar at age 12, Camille's interest in music was piqued and soon led to his discovery of more advanced electronic elements such as synthesizers and DAW programmes like Logic Pro which sparked his passion for beat-making and music composition.
By the age of 16, young Camille was already an accomplished, self-taught producer and mixer, often using his skills to record for several local bands, including his own band, BUNGALOW. This allowed them the luxury of self-publication and independence, a freedom that remains of paramount importance to Camille to this day.

Despite his fierce independence and remarkable ability to self-teach, music continued to have a lasting impact on Camille right up until University where he studied production and studio technology, leading to a masters degree in Music Design from the esteemed Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU). An avid learner and model student, Camille spread his musical wings once more, taking up a music production teaching role at HKU, a position he found extremely rewarding and looks back on fondly for the personal and artistic growth he experienced and ultimately being inspired to go on and share his own knowledge with others.

However, it was Camille's time as an intern both in the Netherlands and Los Angeles that had the biggest impact on his life and artistry. In LA, esteemed Grammy award winner Jochem van der Saag (Seal, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston) took Camille under his wing and extilled his musical wisdom upon him. On his home turf, Camille had the chance to sharpen his skills alongside the likes of Extince, Akwasi and Kenny B in the iconic Mooie Jongens hip-hop studio in Amsterdam. These opportunities opened Camille's mind and eyes to new ways of working and creating whilst also learning from some of the biggest and brightest names in the industry.
Fast forward to the present and Camille is now a highly skilled and highly accomplished professional producer, songwriter, beatmaker, engineer and multi-instrumentalist! After having spent years working for other artists as a producer/engineer and session musician, Camille Antoni is now ready to re-emerge as a solo artist and producer, writing and creating on his own terms.
