New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Earlier this fall, electronic music auteur deadmau5 released "Hyperlandia," a low-lit, slow-burning single featuring pop experimenters Foster the People followed by a fresh Lamorn remix of the track. Today (November 19), deadmau5' label mau5trap has released the Hyperlandia EP - a five-track collection of different iterations of the song complete with new edits including the original instrumental mix and a new club mix.
"Hyperlandia" originated in 2016 as a beautiful atmospheric instrumental that was never released. Flashforward to 2021, deadmau5 revitalized the track with a mesmerizing vocal from pop artist
Foster The People for a collaboration no one saw coming. Upon its release the song received support from such places as tastemaker radio outlets like KCRW and FLOOD FM as well as key online media destinations:
- "A deadmau5 and Foster the People collaboration was not on our 2021 end-of-year bingo card, but now that we've heard 'Hyperlandia,' we can't get enough. On this cut, the masked producer shows off his softer side, diving into a luscious synth melody that slips through the mind like a neon daydream. Mark Foster matches the glittering mood with some high-pitched lyrics about getting lost in an after-hours urban adventure, an ode to temporary love and quick fixes. It's the kind of groove we could ride for hours on end, a smooth listening experience…" - Billboard
- "The scintillating production displayed alongside Foster the People's frontman Mark Foster's transcending vocals is a surefire recipe for success." -MXDWN
- "While devoid of the hyperactive electro elements largely associated with his discography, 'Hyperlandia' is nevertheless signature deadmau5 with its fluttery arpeggios and punchy drum programming. Foster's airy vocals float beautifully atop deadmau5's production, which fuses elements of vaporwave and indietronica for a song that could soundtrack a psychedelic drive…" - EDM.com
- "Fans of deadmau5 and
Foster The People get the best of both worlds thanks to their collaboration…" - Dancing Astronaut
"'Hyperlandia' features some absolutely stunning synth work from one of the best to ever do it. It's generally a slow-burning tune, but, with a patient listen, this is one of our favorite tracks deadmau5 released all year." - This Song Is Sick
- "The track starts off with a cosmic melody imbued with synths and a yearning atmosphere. It's ethereal and electronically neon. Soon, Foster the People enter with their vocals and it hits you with an instant classic feel. Coupled with Joel's complex production, it still sounds tender with the arpeggiating synths and drum patterns. An intimate track from deadmau5? Yes, please." - EDM Tunes

"Hyperlandia" lyrics:
Give me your best night
We're only here for a day, so don't tell me your name
And just melt into my arms while we disappear
In the darkness
Fast lives and high crime
I'm only here for a night, pass the neon lights
Yeah, I've traveled too far to go back to the place
That I started
Give me your best night
We're only here for a day, so don't tell me your name
And just melt into my arms while we disappear
In the darkness
Fast lives and high crime
I'm only here for a night, pass the neon lights
Yeah, I've traveled too far to go back to the place
That I started
Give me your best night
We're only here for a day, so don't tell me your name
And just melt into my arms while we disappear
In the darkness
Fast lives and high crime
I'm only here for a night, pass the neon lights
Yeah, I've traveled too far to go back to the place
That I started
Give me your best night
We're only here for a day, so don't tell me your name
And just melt into my arms while we disappear
In the darkness
Fast lives and high crime
I'm only here for a night, pass the neon lights
Yeah, I've traveled too far to go back to the place
That I started
