NEW YORK (AP) - Despite recent box office duds from Mariah Carey (Glitter) and 'NSync's Lance Bass and Joey Fatone (On the Line), musicians are continuing to pile up the film roles.

Rapper Snoop Dogg, who most recently starred in Bones and The Wash (with Dr. Dre), has signed on to appear in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic '70s police-action series Starsky and Hutch, starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, according to Australia's News Interactive (www.news.com.au). The Warner


Britney Spears
Bros. film is being directed by Todd Phillips (Road Trip) and is due next year.

Snoop Dogg will also appear as himself, along with Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, ex-Limp guitarist Wes Borland, Perry Farrell, Hanson, and Methods of Mayhem's Tommy Lee, in Pauly Shore's upcoming documentary, You'll Never Wiez In This Town Again, due next year.


Mya
Elsewhere, fresh off the filming of her upcoming Crossroads and a new deal with ICM, Britney Spears will play herself in next summer's Austin Powers in Goldmember, the third Austin Powers movie. Destiny's Child's Beyonce Knowles also stars in the film.

And last but not least, Mya has signed on to play Mona in the film adaptation of the popular musical Chicago, due Christmas 2002. That film also stars Queen Latifah, Richard Gere, Renee Zellweger, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, among others.
