The 2021 DMC World DJ Championships Results
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) In spite of the pandemic, 2021 was one of the best years ever for the DMC World DJ Championships. 2020 caught us by surprise, by 2021 we were ready and returned with a program of 8 DJ battles spanning from May through until December.

Competitors and fans were thrilled to see the Team, Portablist, Battle for World Supremacy (our head-to-head battle) and of course our most popular National and World Finals return. What they didn't expect were four brand new categories introduced - including Scratch, Beat Juggling, Foundation and the All Vinyl DJ Championships!

This year three top DJ equipment manufacturers combined to support the 9 months of competitions with Pioneer DJ, Rane/inMusic and Technics providing top shelf prizes with software giant Virtual DJ providing $5,000 cash to the outright winner.

We saw DJ DELightfull win the first ever DMC World Foundation Championship and become the first DJ from Bulgaria to earn a DMC World title. The Foundation format is to combine funky flavor with technical skills.

Of course, the DMC World battles were all vinyl for many years, simply because DVS (digital vinyl systems) hadn't been invented yet. As the most forward-thinking DJs are quick to embrace new technology, DMC had no choice but to allow DVS, but continued to welcome vinyl too. Allowing DVS invigorated the battle and many champions returned to the competition, but some fans were disgruntled waxing nostalgic about DJs using only vinyl records, a mixer and two turntables. DMC didn't want to lose fans so they gave the vinyl purists what they wanted the first ever DMC World All Vinyl DJ Championship. Japan's Yukichi easily won this title - much like he won the DMC Battle for World Supremacy, a classic head to head battle, in 2017 against other national DJ champions who used DVS!

Speaking of the DMC Battle for World Supremacy, it is easily one of the most exciting battles to watch live with DJs going round for round matching skills, disses and wits against each other. DMC World found a way to keep it just as sensational. As each DJ received his opponents video per round, he made a video responding and not just on the turntables! This resulted in some hilarious exchanges. DJs battled back and forth until only two DJs remained. DMC World Portablist Champion Chmielix from Poland versus Brazilian battle veteran Erick Jay. Erick Jay battled strategically saving his best heat for last and won his second DMC World Supremacy title to go along with this 2016 win. He is also the DMC Online World Champion of 2019 … before COVID 19 forced to do everything to be online.

While all of the 2021 DMC World Champions were exceptional, there were two special DJs who really excelled this year. Both came to DMC this year with no previous DMC World titles but are leaving the 2021 DMC battle season with two or three!

One DJ from Belgium dominated the Scratch categories. Swordz goes down in history as the first ever DMC World Scratch Champion and he is also the first DJ, not from Poland, to win the DMC World Portablist title, a Scratch battle on a portable turntable with 7" records.

If there is a shining star (or is it shooting star?) in the 2021 DMC World DJ Championship season it is clearly the UKs JFB! He has been competing for at least 10 years in DMC competitions. In 2020, his World winning routine only resulted in him placing Runner Up. So close! JFB was determined to give it one more year and clearly 2021 is JFB's year. He gathered his first DMC World title this Summer, becoming the first ever DMC World Beat Juggling Champion. He laid low until late Fall when he and DJ Angelo, as The BREXecutioners, won the 2021 DMC World DJ Team Championship.. JFB's battle career hit its zenith on Saturday, Dec. 11th when he won the 2021 DMC World Finals. This original DMC category was established in 1985 and has seen champions become legends including DJ Cash Money, Cut Master Swift, Qbert & Mix Master Mike, Grandmaster Roc Raida, A-Trak, Craze and the list goes on.

Along with accomplishing 3 DMC World titles within one year, JFB's grand prizes included a Pioneer DJ DJM-S11 battle mixer, Two Rane Twelve controller turntables, Two Technics SL-1200MK7 Silver turntables and a $5000 USD cash prize from DJ software giant Virtual DJ!
DMC have been sponsored by Technics Panasonic since 1985.
