The beauty of the singer's voice reaches out to us in a way that is as personal as the location from whence it came. Today, I will give you my take on the ten best American singers of all time. To be clear, these are not in order as I cannot choose between them. Selecting ten was hard enough! Hopefully, when you think of American music, you will think of some of the guys.

1. Whitney Houston - Whitney Houston is the most award-winning female artist of all time and one of the most successful musicians. She is the first performer in history to achieve seven consecutive number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100. Because of her tremendous talent, Houston has earned the moniker "The Voice" in the industry. That tells you everything you need to know about her.
2. Aretha Franklin - Aretha Franklin was one of the most well-known soul singers and the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and began singing in church as a child. She recorded her debut gospel album, Songs of Faith, when she was 14 years old. Aretha was her first studio album, released in 1961. Franklin has sold more than 75 million albums and has received an incredible 18 Grammy Awards.
