This is a great opportunity to experience a live performance of the rarely performed 'Quintet for Winds' by John Harbison, which is considered one of the most difficult pieces in the wind quintet literature. Several other gems will also highlight the performance including Malcolm Arnold's 'Three Shanties' and 'Up-Tempo' from Alec Wilder's 'Quintet No 1.' Ventos is comprised of: Jeffery Pelletier-Flute, Max Hollander- Oboe, Jeff Carwile-Clarinet, Cathleen Torres-Horn and Maria Yuin-Bassoon. Formed in January of 2005, Ventos was born out of each member's individual passion to share their artistry and inspire others while making great music as a group. Ventos (which means 'Wind' in Portuguese) aspires to engage audiences young and old with exciting performances of the classic wind quintet repertoire, transcriptions for wind quintet and performing newly composed works for the wind quintet genre. Ventos is undertaking several major projects including but not limited to recording, touring and teaching in addition to performing concerts that are engaging and of the highest quality.
