British Band New Hope Club Releases 'Call Me A Quitter' And 'Whatever'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) British band New Hope Club have released the summer sizzler single 'Call Me A Quitter' and 'Whatever', out today via Island Records UK.
The new songs - written and performed by Blake, George and Reece - showcases the band's extraordinary musical evolution and most searing, honest lyrics about relationships. This new era also marks Blake's debut as a producer, developed under the band's mentorship with multi-platinum, award-winning US producer and songwriter Ross Golan (5 Seconds of Summer, Maroon 5).

'Call Me A Quitter' is a sunny uptempo that masks how the band feels they could be making more of an effort in their long-distance relationships. "Maybe I'm a little too comfortable. I dropped, I dropped, I might have dropped the ball and then let it roll… I know, I know she's becoming part of the furniture, and if I take a sit back and ask myself if I'm doing enough then I'm probably not," they sing.

The companion track 'Whatever' - produced by Blake - is a summery break-up bop evoking the grooves of Earth, Wind & Fire tempered with the band's laid-back delivery. The pointed lyrics sit somewhere between the exhale of letting go and the bitterness of its resolution. They sing, "You're still wearing my T-shirt, but with some other guy, 'cause it shows off your features. Does he know that it's mine?"

New Hope Club said: "We feel, as a band, that this is the most personal song we have ever released. We are nervous for everyone to hear it. 'Call Me A Quitter' came about when we were sat in the back of a cab in London, talking about how we were struggling with relationships during the pandemic. It was a kind-of therapy session for the three of us to write down how we had all been feeling. The song is mostly about the self-realisation that we can do better in all aspects of our life. This was the song and moment for us to change that around and not quit on what we had worked so hard for."
