New York, NY (David Banner Official Website) - Multi-talented, rapper
David Banner's radio audience now totals 95 million, boosted by his top 10 (No 6) entry into Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart last week with his new album, Certified. Banner's video for his hit single 'Play' is also No 1 on the BET Network. The smash single, a multi-format hip-hop phenomenon, which has surged for months at urban and crossover radio formats, is currently No 5 on the R&R Mediabase R&B Chart and No 4 on the Billboard Rhythm Crossover Chart. 'Play' continues to wow mainstream audiences with its buzz with a TRL debut at No 10 this week, and Banner himself appearing on the acclaimed show to premier the clip.
Certified, brings together some of hip-hop's hottest talent, including Twista, 8-Ball, dead prez, Case, and Jadakiss, among others. Banner also crafts fierce production collaborations with a host of in-demand superstar producers including Mr. Colli Park (DJ Smurf) who helmed 'Play,' Lil' Jon and Jazze Pha.
The Mississippi native recently appeared on VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, co-hosting the pre-show, fresh from his historic, star-studded 'Heal The Hood' benefit concert at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA on September 17. Proceeds from the event, which featured Nelly, T.I., and Big Boi, among others, are being directed to aid the victims of the terrible hurricanes, which have ravaged the gulf coast, earmarked through Banner's own Heal The Hood Foundation. Banner, a longtime voice of consciousness in the hip-hop world, is continuing to devote his energies to helping Mississippi shelters and churches up and down his native state, providing aid, and comfort to thousands of Mississippi flood victims displaced by the storm. Banner started the Heal The Hood Foundation several years ago to aid impoverished neighborhoods largely forgotten by mainstream America.
Banner is currently filming in Memphis for the upcoming Craig Brewer movie, Black Snake Moan, which also stars Samuel Jackson, Christina Ricci, and Justin Timberlake. He also recently signed deal to star in his own animated show to be produced and air on The Cartoon Network.
