New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Motel Radio have returned today with 'The Garden,' a ten-song collection that finds the New Orleans staples emerging with a renewed priority on tending to what's most important in life: relationships with loved ones, focusing on mental health and doing what they love on their own terms. With a "kaleidoscope of synths and pedals" (Offbeat) bolstering their warm and breezy brand of indie rock - easygoing vibes are met by lyrics that aren't afraid to explore the most difficult subject matter head-on....keeping an unwavering positivity all the while. Throughout the new album, Motel Radio get real about the struggle to open up about depression and anxiety to close friends ("Me and My Sunshine"), the lingering guilt of enjoying good times while a family member struggles ("Happiness Pie"), the experience of supporting a frontline-working significant other during the most intense days of the pandemic ("Stress") and coming out on the other end all the better - not hiding from those tough emotions and experiences, but embracing them for the beauty at their roots. The new album was named one of the best releases this week by NPR Music's All Songs Considered and Paste, with advance singles receiving similar "best of" recognition from Ones To Watch, Sweety High and more.

Emblematic of the themes on 'The Garden' are Motel Radio's real-life experiences putting them into practice. With half the band leaving for the West Coast just before the pandemic, the one-time New Orleans live staples were faced with the reality of how to keep carrying on. Ultimately, it was that same unwavering spirit of positivity that not only kept the band alive but rebuilt them stronger than ever. Taking a step back from the touring grind to prioritize developing as songwriters and producers - and even more importantly to focus on their lives and relationships - they were more equipped than ever to capitalize when they did one again have time together. Finally reuniting at an old Louisiana fishing camp to self-record for the first time, the hard-fought road to The Garden gives an entirely new layer of depth to a sound that's been praised as revelatory in New Orleans and far beyond.
