The Prescriptions Release Power Pop Anthem "Not The Issue"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Nashville-based indie rockers The Prescriptions have released "Not The Issue," a dreamy, power pop anthem about feeling lost. Lead singer and guitarist Hays Ragsdale was looking for words of wisdom from his late grandparents while writing the song's lyrics, wishing he could turn to them for advice during a difficult period of life. "I don't know the issue," Ragsdale sings like a rallying cry over ringing electric guitar and pulsating drums. "Not The Issue" sets the tone for The Prescriptions forthcoming studio album Time Apart, produced by Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) and Brendan Benson (The Raconteurs) and due out November 18 on Single Lock Records, with its 21st century production, street-smart swagger, and amplified shimmer. Listen to "Not The Issue" here:

Time Apart is the warm, widescreen follow-up to The Prescriptions' 2019 debut, Hollywood Gold, with its songs balanced halfway between classic craftsmanship and progressive exploration. The forthcoming collection is rooted in everything that made the classic stuff so compelling - sharp songwriting, ringing refrains, percussive stomp, and guitars that chime one minute and churn the next. Time Apart finds the hook-driven rockers reflecting on the past while exploring new territory with sonically rangy production and experimental textures.

When recording sessions began, Ragsdale, bassist Parker McAnnally, and drummer John Wood were still riding high on the critical success of their 2019 debut Hollywood Gold, which earned the band invitations to perform at SXSW and Jason Isbell's Shoals Fest. But as the pandemic brought their tour to a halt, The Prescriptions had time to chase down new ways to present their melody-driven sound for their sophomore album. They ultimately uncovered a spacey, neo-psych soundscape full of taut power-pop, explorative indie rock, jangling heartland hooks, and New Wave nuances.

Time Apart is due out November 18, 2022 on Single Lock Records. Pre-order / pre-save the album here: link.singlelock.com/prescriptions
