New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Cutting-edge, modern pop it-girl and songwriter BAYLI has released her addictive new single "act up" alongside a vibrant video and the announcement of her upcoming Stories 2 EP, out October 21. The video, a playful love story directed by Kimber-Lee Alston which sees BAYLI cross New York City as she tries to win back her girlfriend. Check out the first look of the visual via The FADER.
"'act up' is an ode to love!" shares BAYLI on the single. "Of course, like so many of my other songs, its steeped in gay idioms and innuendoes and feels like a magic carpet ride through my own dreamy, campy audio utopia. In this song I'm singing to a girl who I am totally smitten with and the song describes the up and down roller coaster of dating someone who is strong, sexy, independent and a go-getter. Sometimes she's the chillest, kindest and "coolest" girl you've ever met, but if you push her to her edge she knows how to turn up and get feisty, as true bad bitches do. This song is about loving your partner through all the moments."
A follow up to and a continuation of her acclaimed stories from new york EP, Stories 2 is about journeying and the impacts of the distance and loneliness that can come while being away on the road. Taking in themes spanning heartbreak, addiction, loneliness and self-discovery, each song was made in a different city as the world was opening back up after lockdown. Stories 2 features recent singles "think of drugs" an intimate slow jam that explores BAYLI's upbringing seeing addiction in her own household and unpacking how that has influenced her own relationships, and unstoppable anthem "TELLY BAG" which premiered on Telfar TV after the brand worked alongside BAYLI on the looks for the slick visual.
