New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On Sunday February 5th the Recording academy hosted the 65th annual GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles, California. Defying expectations and sparking a level of national pride by his fellow Jamaicans, Kabaka Pyramid won Best Reggae Album for 'The Kalling'.
Still soaking in the win, Kabaka Pyramid is still processing this major achievement. "What it means to me, my career, my family, my team. You know what it means for Reggae Music, positive music, coming out of
Jamaica right now us just a joy. It's a feeling of greatness, as I always say I would never be defined by things like these but, the recognition of the work on such a scale, in such a key market for us as the US means a lot for us," says Kabaka Pyramid.
Understandably thrilled when announced the winner of the academy, Kabaka Pyramid accepted the honor with his mother by his side and his friends from high school, now managers Abishai Hoilett and Duane McDonald. Thanking his parents, team, fellow artists Kabaka Pyramid highlighted that they are "just some kids from Kingston, Jamaica". Living their dream through hard work and staying true to who they are achieving this great recognition by their musical peers on the world stage is a major accomplishment.

Jesse Royal. In addition, 'The Kalling' also featured some new collaborators for Kabaka Pyramid like Buju Banton, Stephen Marley, Tifa, Answele and Jemere Morgan. With productions from Kabaka Pyramid, Stephen Marley, and Young Pow, 'The Kalling' was a family effort putting together a symphony of excellent songs.
