Top 40/Pop Is The 'Top' Most Listened To Music Genre For US In-Vehicle Radio Listeners In Q1 2023
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) DTS, Inc., a global leader in next-generation audio, imaging and sensing technology and a wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Inc. (NYSE: XPER), announced its first ever data snapshot of DTS AutoStage in-vehicle radio listener data.

The data, which represents real world radio listening provisioned from the DTS AutoStage platform* globally, provides a 'Top Five' snapshot of the trove of insights available from the recently launched DTS AutoStage Broadcaster Portal. The portal provides radio broadcasters worldwide with insights into where their audiences are listening, when they are listening and what content they enjoy the most.

Globally, the top five most listened-to artists in Q1 2023 were:
Ed Sheeran
Taylor Swift
Miley Cyrus
Ava Max
Lil Nas X

Within the U.S., the top five most listened-to genres in Q1 2023 were:
Top40/Pop
Adult Contemporary
Country and R&B (tied)
Rock
News/Talk

Globally, the top five most listened-to songs in Q1 2023 were:
'Flowers' by Miley Cyrus
'Anti-Hero' by Taylor Swift
'I'm Good [Blue] [Oliver Heldens Remix]' by David Guetta / Bebe Rexha
'Star Walkin' (League of Legends Worlds Anthem)' by Lil Nas X
'Snap' by Rosa Linn

Within the U.S., the top five most listened-to songs in Q1 2023 were:
'Kill Bill' by SZA
'Die for You' by The Weeknd
'I'm Good [Blue] [Oliver Heldens Remix]' by David Guetta / Bebe Rexha
'Flowers' by Miley Cyrus
'Anti-Hero' by Taylor Swift

"Our Top Five charts are a window into the near real-time, global in-vehicle trends information we can provide broadcasters to help them make programming decisions," said Joe D'Angelo, senior vice president, broadcast at Xperi, who noted that data provided by the portal range from listener heat maps and 24-hour data turn around, to what songs, ads and program segments listeners enjoy the most.
"For the first time, radio can join other markets like mobile and TV in 'big data' to allow them to make data-driven decisions for their stations and to connect with their listeners and get new insights for the sales teams and program managers to increase revenue," continued D'Angelo.

Not surprisingly, of the 54 countries reviewed, in-vehicle listening is dominated by contemporary U.S. and U.K. artists - Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Sam Smith are ranked in the top 20 most listened-to artist by country in the first quarter approximately 40 times, while Ed Sheeran is ranked 35 times. Classic artists such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse each show up only twice. Beyonce rules in South Africa with the song 'Cuff It,' but only appears in 15 other country's lists; Lizzo appears in 15, Harry Styles in eight and Dua Lipa in six.

The DTS AutoStage system, the only global automotive independent media delivery platform, is delivering next-generation, AI-powered connected radio, audio and video content for more than 52 connected car models worldwide, seamlessly combining linear broadcast with IP-delivered content that enables a powerfully personalized, in-vehicle infotainment solution.

Xperi, via its comprehensive broadcast technologies portfolio such as the DTS AutoStage and HD Radio technologies, is uniquely committed to delivering extraordinary experiences for broadcasters to preserve their special bonds with the communities they serve, enabling connections with audiences wherever they consume content, while personalizing content discovery and future-proofing radio with a consistent stream of broadcast innovation.

Radio stations can access DTS AutoStage Broadcaster Portal at no cost, whether they are broadcasting digitally or via analog by registering through the Xperi DTS AutoStage Broadcaster portal.
