CAP UCLA's 2023-24 Season Includes Gabriel Kahane, Attacca Quartet, Kronos Quartet
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA (CAP UCLA) has announced its 2023-24 season, including performances by Gabriel Kahane & Attacca Quartet and Kronos Quartet, as well as several other artists familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal, both in Royce Hall and the organization's new venue, the UCLA Nimoy Theater, which opens in September.

Composer/singer/songwriter Gabriel Kahane and Attacca Quartet help inaugurate the Nimoy with a performance of songs from Kahane's 2022 Nonesuch album, Magnificent Bird, on Sunday, October 22. On the album, Kahane explores quiet, domestic concerns, coupled with losses personal and collective, against the backdrop of a nation and planet in crisis. The San Francisco Chronicle calls it "a gorgeous, intimate collection ... glistening and magical." Attacca Quartet has won Grammy Awards for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for both of its Nonesuch recordings with Caroline Shaw (a guest on Magnificent Bird): Orange (2019) and Evergreen (2022).

Kronos Quartet brings Five Decades, its celebratory fiftieth anniversary season tour, to Royce Hall on Sunday, April 28, 2024. The performance is part of a valedictory tour with stops at esteemed concert halls in the US and around the world, including Barbican Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, Cité de la musique in Paris, and Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley.

Tickets for the CAP UCLA 2023-24 season-which also includes performances by Alarm Will Sound, Nico Muhly, Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, and yMusic among others-are on sale for members starting Jun 20 and to the general public on June 23.
