New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Miley Cyrus' career-altering hit "
Wrecking Ball" just turned ten, and to celebrate, the new music and publishing company Seeker
Music - which counts the song among more than 14k copyrights and recordings in its catalog - commissioned Dolly Parton, the song's writers Mozella and Stephan Moccio, producer Cirkut, Billboard Magazine pop expert Jason Lipshutz, and others, to tell the story behind the song in a new podcast, "Wrecking Ball 10."
Listen to the Spotify "Music + Talk" podcast, hosted by music TikToker Sam Murphy, and watch the exclusive clip of Dolly talking about "
Wrecking Ball" (full interview featured in the podcast). "I remember the first time I heard "Wrecking Ball," it hit me the same way it did the first time I heard "
I Will Always Love You" by Whitney
Houston ... I thought, well how great can a song be?"
Beyond the podcast, too, Seeker is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of "
Wrecking Ball" with a 12-track EP of up-and-coming contemporary artists covering "Wrecking Ball."
The EP, podcast, and other initiatives (such as a "What Wrecking Ball lyric are you?" TikTok/Insta filter), are all part of the unique, creator-led approach Seeker takes to its catalog. When founder/CEO Evan Bogart (hit songwriter of Beyonce's "Halo," Rihanna's "SOS," Chair of the Recording Academy's Songwriters and Composers Wing, etc.) launched Seeker in 2020, he had two rules for catalog: he'd only buy songs he was personally passionate about, and he'd make sure to treat everything with the fresh creative strategy and brainpower that we typically think of as being reserved for new artist campaigns. It's about getting music and IP to new audiences in fresh, creative ways and avenues, not just going for max syncs.
