TENCE grew up listening to his parents' collections of US hip-hop greats WuTang Clan, Dre and Nas. The young rapper hails from Nottingham - a hotbed for new UK music. But while he never left the manor, his music shows no signs of staying put.
Armed with a laptop and
Logic Pro, Tence started making beats at just 15 with step-dad and producer Dead Rose. After studying at Nottingham's Confetti
Music College, he joined forces with Andy Zoutr (producer for the likes of local bassline and drum 'n' bass MCs
Bru-C and Window Kid).
Influenced by Dave and Eminem, Tence writes music to capture the emotion of a moment. His debut single 'Lies' - a feel-good summer banger written during creativity-draining lockdowns - has already featured on BBC introducing, finding its way onto a number of curated UK rap playlists.
Tence is working on a full album for 2023. The young rapper creates music atmospheres that match his weighty lyrical content and laid-back delivery. Backed by Dead Rose's production - who layers various textures and FX into instrumentals - if the beat fits the mood, Tence runs with it.
