Angel (vocals/bass, 23) and Nate Mangold (drums, 22) - are thrilled to release their new single and lyric video "BAD START" via EDGEOUT Records. The single is the first song to be announced and featured on EA Sports' NHL 24 Soundtrack.
Taking to the ice (September 29th), the NHL 24
Soundtrack features 36 tracks of unprecedented diversity, attitude, superstar acts and explosive new artists. It's a slapshot of a soundtrack that lights the lamp, lays on the lumber, and hits stronger than ever before. "Having a song in a video game such as NHL 24 is a dream come true," says the band. "We used to joke that we'd be in a videogame and now it's happening! It's an incredible honor to have been noticed by the team and we are very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you, EA! Thank you, NHL!"
"'BAD START' was one of the first songs we ever wrote together as a band," says Roemers. "We didn't know what to think of the song when we completed it. When we submitted it to everyone on our team and they really loved it, it became the template of our sound. It was a combination of loud chanty vocals mixed with these layered keyboards and guitars and a message that pretty much says, 'I'm an idiot but I mean well.' It was perfectly imperfect and we've really learned to love it over the years."
StrateJacket have had to learn the hard way that good things come to those who wait. Formed in 2019, they quickly found themselves stuck in the middle of a pandemic, stunting the band's career before it even started. Not ones to give up easily, this youthful band of early twenty-somethings used the isolation to hone their craft and found their catchy, fast, and energetic sound in merging their individual influences. Acts ranging from
Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182 were among their favorites.
The band eventually played some of their first shows with a guerilla approach to gigging, driving all over San Francisco to play under bridges, on beaches, and in warehouses. This earned a devoted fanbase in the process and caught the attention of EDGEOUT Records, who signed them in 2021. StrateJacket recorded their debut album at Vancouver's Armoury Studios in November of 2022 with the Juno/BMI-winning Canadian producer/songwriter Brian Howes (Hinder, Skillet, Boys Like Girls). They also secured the Grammy® winning Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Muse, Prince) to mix the album.
