New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Singer/songwriter/pianist (and medical doctor) Joe McGowan has earned his third official Grammy award consideration for Best Pop Solo Performance for his most recent single, "The Good Life." Previously, his songs "Sweet Talk" (2018) and "Song For the Mockingbird" (2022) were under Grammy consideration.

The video for "The Good Life" has just passed 500k views, making it McGowan's most viewed video to date. "The Good Life" is now available on all major music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and more.

A soulful, cinematic Americana ballad, "The Good Life" was written by McGowan, produced by Michael Lewis Levey, and recorded in New York at Soho Music Works, Creekside Sounds. According to McGowan, "This song reflects on love lost and moving on. We've all been there, hanging on to what we think we have, then one day realizing that we stay because it is comfortable. It's easier than walking away. We have to dig deep into our souls to realize we deserve better." Sample lyric: "I'll leave the parts of me behind/That killed the joy and hid the shine/These things will never help me find/The good life, the good life."

"I tend to just write what's in my heart," McGowan continues. "Usually the words come first, then the melody. Sometimes I sit down in front of the piano and just start playing, then I realize that what I'm playing has a sense of familiarity, like there's something inside of me that needs to be said."

Both a professional musician and an accomplished Mohs surgeon, McGowan released his debut Americana album Dirt Road Revival in 2016 under his own independent label. While creating and releasing music was a leap of faith for him, he realized it was undeniably the missing piece to truly express himself. Stay tuned for McGowan's next single and video, "Silhouettes," due out in late November.
