New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Cuervo, the world's number one tequila brand1, is proud to announce the return of its Akamba
Music Festival on May 4, 2024, an electrifying musical and cultural experience set against the ethereal backdrop of Tequila, Mexico, a beloved UNESCO World Heritage site. Akamba, which means agave in the local Purépecha language, is an unforgettable fusion of rhythm, culture, and of course, tequila. The ultimate hidden gem of music festivals, Akamba offers an unparalleled experience for those seeking authentic cultural immersion that marries the pulsating beats of world-class artists and the unmatched flavor of Mexico's most beloved spirit.
The Akamba excitement begins when attendees board a special festival version of the Cuervo Express, a high-energy train ride that takes festivalgoers on an unforgettable 90-minute journey from Guadalajara to the magical town of Tequila, complete with delectable Cuervo tequila cocktails, live DJ performances in each of the train cars, dancing and breathtaking views of the agave landscape.
The 2024 music festival line-up features exciting performances from global electronic and dance musicians, including Disclosure, Sofi Tukker, HVOB, Kid Francescoli, and more. In previous years, Akamba has presented live acts such as Polo & Pan, Bob Moses, Monolink, Moodyman, BADBADNOTGOOD, Bomba Estéreo, and Quantic, among many others.
As a protective steward of the Tequila landscape, Cuervo created Akamba as an environmentally conscious festival. Festival initiatives include:
Sustainable construction for stage design, branded activations, and all production elements built using as many reusable materials as possible.
Eco-friendly packaging used by food and beverage vendors for service, as well as prohibiting the use of single-use plastics. Cups and straws on-site are made from repurposed bioplastic from natural Cuervo agave fibers.
Tracking total carbon footprint from all production elements and implementing several sustainability initiatives including supporting projects that help restore natural environments in the state of Jalisco.
Working with The Mexican FoodBanking Network to donate food from restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and farmers to give directly to families in vulnerable financial circumstances.
All sustainable efforts at Akamba ladder up to "The Agave Project" by Cuervo, an initiative launched in 2019 that spearheads the company's long-term commitment to reusing, recycling and repurposing 100% of the precious agave plant. Cuervo was the first to use agave byproduct as compost in its fields and in just the past few years the brand has created agave fiber plastic alternatives like drinking straws, drinking cups, bricks, car parts and more.
From delectable Mexican cuisine and electrifying global beats to cocktails and shots of tequila in the birthplace of the spirit, Akamba offers an experience unlike anything else and embodies the very best Mexico has to offer. Tickets are available now beginning at $1,500 MXN, or around $90 USD, for festival entry and $4,800 MXN, or around $281 USD, for festival entry and travel via the Cuervo Akamba Express. You can purchase tickets and find more information on Akamba by visiting www.akamba.mx, or via Instagram at @akambamx.
