
SANTA MONICA, CA (Yahoo! Music) - Yahoo! Music, the Internet's number one site for music content, hosted a surprise live performance from Latin superstar, Shakira, under The Reuters Sign in Times
Square on Monday night. The performance kicked off the new mini-Pop ad campaign for Yahoo!
Music Unlimited, featuring
Shakira and supporting the release of her new album, "Oral Fixation, vol. 2," available on November 29th.
Written and produced by Shakira, Oral Fixation, vol. 2 finds Shakira at an all time creative high. Over the last two years, Shakira penned over sixty new songs; ten critically acclaimed Spanish songs comprise on Fijacion Oral, vol. 1 and a batch of new English songs now make up Oral Fixation, vol. 2. The album also contains two English renditions of "Dia Especial" and "Make Me Believe" from Fijacion Oral, vol. 1 and a new song "Illegal" featuring the legendary Carlos Santana.
The Yahoo! Music "This is Huge" Mini-Pop campaign launched this year to promote its new music subscription service Yahoo! Music Unlimited (YMU), where users can play music from a catalog of more than one million songs, transfer tracks to portable devices, and enjoy the unique ability to share and discover music with other subscribers through Yahoo! Messenger. The first television ads supporting the campaign, featured artists such as Green Day and Missy Elliott. The new Shakira Mini-Pop ad, features her hit single, "Don't Bother," which premiered on The Reuters Sign immediately following her Times Square performance.
Mini-Pop stars are minutely drawn detailed pixilated depictions of well-known musicians, including Green Day, Missy Elliot and now Shakira. All the ads and marketing efforts feature the line "Over A Million Songs - This is Huge," establishing Yahoo! Music Unlimited as the leading subscription service with an extensive music library.
