Dusty Springfield The BBC Sessions 2 Disc Vinyl Out November 8, 2024
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Originally released on CD in 2007 and now available for the first time on vinyl as a 2LP set, Dusty, The BBC Sessions is released on 8th November.
A stunning collection of session recordings made by Dusty Springfield (and The Springfields) between 1962 - 1970, these tracks are taken from the remaining surviving archive session tapes and have been remastered and the album cut at Abbey Road Studios.
Available to pre-order this set includes three tracks recorded in July 1962 when Dusty was a member of The Springfields, a three piece that included her brother Tom Springfield and Tim Field. At this early part of her career Dusty was singing in a folk and country style before she shifted to - and nailed - her trademark 'blue eyed soul' pop sound of subsequent recordings.

Featured highlights on Dusty, The Complete BBC Sessions include a selection of her always immaculate covers including Stevie Wonder's Uptight (Everything's Alright), The Rascals' Good Lovin', Jackie Wilson's R&B stomper Higher and Higher (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me), and the Bee Gees' classic To Love Somebody. Other tracks included here are BBC renditions of some of her biggest hits: Wishin' and Hopin', Little by Little, You Don't Have to Say You Love Me, Son of a Preacher Man, and I Just Don't Know What to with Myself.

Born Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien in London in 1939, Dusty Springfield was a unique iconic talent and for many, her songs, her voice and her style defined a generation. She rose to worldwide fame during London's Swinging Sixties, and continued to have hits globally into the 1980s and 1990s. Dusty was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2 weeks after death in March 1999, and into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. She was awarded an OBE for services to popular music by Queen Elizabeth II in January 1999.
