Balming Tiger Releases New EP Greatest Hits
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The genre-bending South Korean collective Balming Tiger has just released their new EP, Greatest Hits, their first project since the critically acclaimed debut album January Never Dies. With this new material, Balming Tiger continues to push boundaries, blending genres with socially charged commentary and cutting-edge soundscapes. Greatest Hits arrives at a pivotal moment for the group, following a summer European tour that included standout performances at festivals like Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, and Roskilde. Balming Tiger will present all of the EP's tracks as a band set by Kim Hanjoo of Silica Gel as a bandmaster through their first Korean concert "Balming Tiger World Expo 2024" at the Nodeul Island Live House in Seoul on November 2 and 3.

'Greatest Hits' isn't a typical album—it's more of a collection of standout singles, with each track showcasing its own distinct style. The EP highlights Balming Tiger's versatility, as every song offers a fresh musical experience and insight into the group's ever-evolving artistry. Notable tracks include "Big Butt," a playful yet emotional ode to an unattainable lover that feels both innocent and bittersweet, capturing the essence of a Balming Tiger love story. Meanwhile, "Cunning City" serves as a high-energy anthem, exploring the ambition and grit required to navigate dangerous streets—a soundtrack for the bold and ruthless.

In "Spirit Chaebol," the group delivers a satirical take on materialism and generational wealth, proclaiming, "Too much money in the safe? We're rich in spirit—call us Spirit Chaebol." The smooth, introspective track "Hi-Lo" reflects on the emotional highs and lows of life's journey, featuring Omega Sapien as he takes on the role of vocalist. Lastly, "Forever" offers a nostalgic yet hopeful reflection on childhood heroes, capturing a longing for the fantasies of youth.

Balming Tiger 'Greatest Hits' Track List:
1. Big Butt
2. Cunning City
3. Spirit Chaebol
4. Hi-Lo
5. Forever

The music video for the focus track "Big Butt" was produced by Balming Tiger member Jan' Qui. It pays homage to the visuals of the boy bands that influenced the group, capturing their signature playful and humorous energy. The album's artwork, which reflects its distinct identity, was created by fellow group member Chanhee Hong.

Balming Tiger, named after the iconic Asian ointment "Tiger Balm," describe themselves as a "multinational alternative K-pop band" with global ambitions. Recognized as one of Rolling Stone's "Future 25," the collective includes performers Omega Sapien, sogumm, bj wnjn, and Mudd the student, along with producers San Yawn and Unsinkable, video directors Jan' Qui and Leesuho, DJ Abyss, visual artist Chanhee Hong, and writer Henson Hwang. Each artist brings their own creative identity, contributing to the group's eclectic and boundary-pushing style.

Balming Tiger's blend of genres, electrifying energy, and powerful stage presence earned them a performance on Colbert, recognition from Rolling Stone as part of the "Future 25," and accolades from The New York Times, Consequence, Hypebeast, Stereogum, Teen Vogue, and Vogue, who proclaimed that "Balming Tiger Is Turning K-pop Upside Down," establishing them as one of the most exciting and promising new acts in music today. Balming Tiger made waves at SXSW 2023 with their electric performances, winning the prestigious Grulke Prize, awarded to the festival's most exciting emerging artists. Previous recipients include Leon Bridges, Haim, Chvrches, and Anderson .Paak.
