New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Fresh off the release of her highly anticipated EP love myself, award-winning artist and songwriter Lindsay Ell releases "i shouldn't call you", her new collaboration with Nashville-based indie band Nightly, today via Universal Music.
Written by Lindsay Ell and Nightly and co-produced by Ell and Doug Schadt, "i shouldn't call you" sonically mirrors the emotional journey between heartache and closure. The song opens with sparse instrumentation, haunting reverb, and Ell's vulnerable vocals before shifting gears with prominent percussion, increased tempo, and a freeing guitar solo. Lyrically rooted in the search for self-love, "i shouldn't call you" continues Lindsay Ell's artistic journey of channeling pain into power. "'i shouldn't call you' is the perfect follow-up to love myself, because when you start to love yourself, you can see what you are worthy of and the things that don't fit become clearer," shares Ell. "I wrote this song to be the soundtrack for the honest struggle of coming to terms with realizing someone doesn't fit in your life anymore."
Lauded for her songwriting, Lindsay Ell creates a sense of connection by expressing universal emotions through poignant, vulnerable lyrics. Standing proudly in her artistic evolution, Ell shared in an interview with American Songwriter after the release of love myself: "I started writing music that felt real and sonically like it evolved. I could go into a studio and literally make any sound I wanted, compared to before I had given myself a list of rules. The quality of the song and the ability of a song to connect to a human being listening to it on the other side of the world is what matters. I really believe that music is supposed to feel like this healing process when you write it and listen to it."

With her role as lead guitarist for Shania Twain's "Come On Over" Las Vegas residency and tour continuing into the summer and her own full album expected to arrive later this fall, 2025 is set to be another landmark year for Lindsay Ell.
