HOLLYWOOD, CA (Capitol Records) - Gotee/Capitol recording group Relient K has announced an upcoming six-week slate of bill-topping U.S. club dates to launch 2006 in much the same way they began 2005 - on the road. The Canton, Ohio-based group, which averages 150-200 dates annually, will kick-off their coast-to-coast "Matt Hoopes Birthday Tour" at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City, Missouri. This latest trek aptly begins February 15, in conjunction with a birthday celebration for the band's beloved guitarist.

The announcement comes as "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been," the latest single from the band's widely celebrated "Mmhmm" album, continues to win listeners at Top 40 Mainstream outlets across the country while quickly making a name for itself in the Billboard "Hot 100."

The "Matt Hoopes Birthday Tour" itinerary, which also follows the recent release of Relient K's "Apathetic EP" (featuring four new songs), finds the band coming off what had been the most exciting and successful year of their career. In many ways, it was the band's irrepressible commitment to non-stop road work in 2005 that helped propel both 2004's "Mmhmm" and 2003's "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right ... But Three Do" to RIAA gold album status.

Last year alone saw Relient K embark on an arena/amphitheater tour alongside Good Charlotte and Simple Plan; a co-headlining tour with MXPX; and a main stage slot on the celebrated Vans Warped Tour. Other 2005 highlights included appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, during which they performed the hit "Mmhmm" single, "Be My Escape," outdoors.
