Belinda Bruce in the folk artist/group category of the 2006 Indie Awards presented by Canadian
Music Week
The CMW Indie Awards will take place on March 1, 2006 at The Docks Concert Theatre in Toronto.
"I am really thrilled to have been nominated," says Alana (Jan. 12) from Paris, France where she kicks off a 10-date Rounder/Zoe European tour tonight with Dar Williams, Lynn Miles and Caroline Herring. It will be followed by a 7-date UK tour with Jess Klein. Adds Alana, "For the next three weeks, I will be traveling and performing with some amazing singer/songwriters."
As well, Alana was picked to perform at a UK/Canadian music industry conference being held in London on Jan. 19 being organized by the Canadian Consulate there..
Since, the July release of her debut Rounder Record album "Unsettled Down" Alana has toured extensively in Canada and made appearances on CTV's "Canada A.M.," and CBC-Radio's 'sounds Like Canada," as well as performed in tandem with Colin Linden on CBC-Radio's "Fuse."
Alana has also co-written with such top Canadian artists as Sylvia Tyson, Serena Ryder, Colin Cripps and George Canyon. As well, she recently co-wrote with celebrated American roots/bluegrass songwriter Mark Simos who has penned songs for Alison Krauss, the Del McCoury Band, and Laurie Lewis.
Following a 23-date tour in the Fall, 2005 in support of the Corb Lund Band, Alana did dates with Stephen Fearing and Serena Ryder. As well, she went to New York to appear at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater in December as part of the Upper North Side Series.
