NEW YORK, NY (Atlantic Records) - Melisma/Atlantic recording artist
Rob Thomas returns to the North American concert trail next month for a string of headlining dates across Canada and the northern U.S. This latest leg of Thomas' global itinerary is slated to kick off on March 7th in Burlington, Vermont and wrap up on April 4th in Calgary, Alberta [see attached itinerary].
Thomas embarked on his first full-scale solo tour of North
America this past fall, crossing the country on a two-month SRO trek which ran from October through early December.
The upcoming North American itinerary will follow a two-week swing across Australia, where Thomas' debut solo album, "...SOMETHING TO BE," hit No 1 and has been certified double platinum. Thomas will play nine sold-out arena shows Down Under between February 13th and the 25th.
The No 1, RIAA platinum "...SOMETHING TO BE" is now in its 40th week on The Billboard 200. Thomas is up for two Grammy Awards at this week's ceremony in Los Angeles, including "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" for his No 1 radio smash, "Lonely No More," and "Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance" for the album's second hit single, "This Is How A Heart Breaks." "...SOMETHING TO BE" recently won a Groovevolt Award for Best Male Album in the Pop category. Over 700,000 fans cast votes for the third annual Groovevolt Music and Fashion Awards.
The album's third consecutive smash, "Ever The Same," hits the top five this week on the national Hot AC charts, and has hit the top ten on VH1's "Top Twenty Countdown." Thomas will perform "Ever The Same" live February 9th on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
"...SOMETHING TO BE" made chart history upon its release in April 2005. The set entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No 1, marking the first time that a male artist from a rock or pop group has debuted at No 1 with their first solo album since Billboard introduced the chart 50 years ago. In addition, "...SOMETHING TO BE" was the first album released exclusively as a DualDisc to hit No 1. It is now approaching 3 million in global sales, while "Lonely No More" has hit No 1 in 15 countries around the world.
