LOS ANGELES (Yahoo) - Mandy Moore is quite different from your average teen singing sensation. Moore doesn't trade in sexy outfits or videos to help promote herself, which sets her apart from acts like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Her wholesome real-life image matches perfectly with that of Jamie, the character she plays in the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks's popular novel A Walk To Remember. Jamie is a high school girl who, unlike most of her contemporaries, has a strong relationship with both her father, a preacher, and with God. Jamie is not the average teen movie character, and that's just fine for Moore. "It's so taboo. It's so not politically correct to have a character in a movie have religious beliefs and be, not necessarily outspoken about it, but have it be known - have it be obvious. And the great thing about Jamie is she wasn't preachy about it. It wasn't so much of, 'This is what I believe in and if you don't believe it then you're wrong,' which is good. That's not the message that you obviously want to send out to people. I don't know - I loved it. I loved that Jamie was the consistent person in the story and everyone around her changed for the better by finding faith." A Walk To Remember opens Friday (January 25).
