NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) -
Alan Jackson has ended
Creed's eight-week run in the No. 1 spot on The Billboard 200, as the country star's
Drive raked in 423,069 in sales to debut in the top spot this week.
As a result, Drive prevents Creed from setting a new SoundScan record of nine weeks in the top spot (the alt-rock band shares the eight-week feat with 'NSync and Eminem), and is on its way to setting a record of its own.
At 423,069 in first-week sales, Drive becomes the biggest selling January debut in the SoundScan era. Jackson's latest also simultaneously debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, a feat shared only by fellow country brethren Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, LeAnn Rimes, and Faith Hill.
Creed's Weathered falls to No. 2, having managed to still scan over 128,000 copies in its ninth week. The only other debut in the top 50 this week belongs to fellow country star Willie Nelson, whose The Great Divide, featuring guests Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, and Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, among others, lands at No. 43.
Other notable debuts include Frank Sinatra's Greatest Love Songs (No. 76); Body + Soul: No Control, featuring R. Kelly and Monica (No. 129); and the soundtrack to Mandy Moore's debut feature film, A Walk to Remember, featuring Moore, Cold, and Toploader (No. 181).
